Insulation Removal in Fort Worth, TX: When It Has to Come Out, and What Goes Back In
Taking Out Attic Insulation in Fort Worth
Insulation comes out of an attic for a reason. A roof leak soaked it, or rodents nested in it, and new material laid over the top would only cover that up. When that is what we find, we recommend a complete removal and replacement. The old insulation comes out, the floor is cleaned and sanitized once it is clear, and new blown-in fiberglass or cellulose is blown back across the whole attic.
If what is up there is dry and clean and just thin, it does not need to come out. Adding to it skips the removal work, and attic insulation in Fort Worth covers that.
Dimensional Contracting works out of Arlington and has been in business since 2003. Fort Worth and the rest of Tarrant County are inside the area we cover. The attic evaluation is free.

Out, or Can It Stay?
Droppings, nesting, a smell, or runs tunneled through it. Those are reasons to have the attic looked at. If the insulation turns out to be soiled, we recommend taking it out rather than burying it under new material.
Stains or wet patches under a roof leak. Get the leak fixed, then have the insulation checked. Where it is wet or damaged, we recommend taking it out. Our roofing company, Fix My Roof DFW, works out of Fort Worth and handles roof repair.
Packed down where people have walked or stored boxes. Not automatically. We check the rest of the floor before recommending anything.
Dry and clean, just old and thin. It can stay, and new material goes over it.
Spray foam. We do not remove existing spray foam, so tell us if that is what is up there.
What a Complete Removal and Replacement Involves
The Floor While It Is Bare
With the old material gone you can see everything it was hiding: the framing, the wiring, the ductwork and the gaps in the ceiling. It is the easiest time to seal those gaps around pipes, wires, top plates and the hatch, and we seal them with foam sealant and caulk. Attic air sealing shows where they usually are.
What Goes Back In
New blown-in fiberglass or cellulose, across the whole floor, to the depth in the estimate. An attic that has just been cleared is starting from nothing, and for that ENERGY STAR recommends R-49 in climate zone 3. Insulation replacement explains how we decide between this and adding to what is there.
Fix the Cause Before Anything Goes Back
New insulation gets ruined the same way the old did if the leak is still there or the rodents can still get in. Stop the water or close the way in first. When you call, describe what you have seen, and we will say which parts are our job and which need a roofer or a pest company.
Cleaning Comes With the Complete Job
Attic cleaning is not something we sell by itself. The floor gets cleaned and sanitized as one step of a complete removal and replacement, after the old insulation is out and before the new goes down.
What Moves the Price
A removal price comes after someone has been in the attic. The things that change it:
- The size of the attic floor. On a two-story house it can be much smaller than the square footage suggests.
- The kind of insulation coming out and the state it is in. Wet or soiled material takes more care than dry loose fill.
- Access. A tight hatch in a closet adds time to every trip in and out of the attic.
- The material and the depth going back in.
- Air sealing, if it is done in the same visit.
What We Do Not Take On
Installing spray foam, or removing it. Radiant barrier and duct work. Cleaning an attic by itself, or fixing one corner and leaving the rest. All of our work is whole attics.

/ FAQS
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you take out just the damaged part?
No. We work on whole attics. We check the condition across the entire floor, then recommend either a complete removal and replacement or adding new insulation across the whole floor.
Do you remove old spray foam?
No. If the attic has spray foam in it, tell us when you call so nobody makes a wasted trip.
Do you clean the attic without replacing the insulation?
No. We clean and sanitize the attic floor only during a complete removal and replacement, between the old insulation coming out and the new going in.
How much does insulation removal cost in Fort Worth?
Each attic is priced after we have measured it, and that visit costs nothing. The floor area, what is coming out and its condition, the access and what goes back in decide the number.
Can I pull the insulation out myself?
Some people do. If rodents have lived in it or a leak has soaked it, protective gear on its own is not enough to make handling it safe. Droppings and damp, soiled material can carry health risks, and pulling the insulation out stirs that material into the air. Have it looked at before anyone disturbs it. The look is free.
Will you fix the roof leak that caused it?
That is a job for our roofing company, Fix My Roof DFW, which is based in Fort Worth. Get the leak stopped first, and then the new insulation goes in.
What a Customer Said
I wasn’t happy with the state of my insulation and asked if it was possible to remove the current insulation and replace it. Billy said indeed it was and he quoted me a price I thought was more than fair and agreed to do the work the following Saturday. … The day of the install his business partner, Rob, and his assistant showed up. Rob talked with me and let me know exactly what they were doing and how they were going to be doing it.
