Attic Insulation Removal in Dallas, TX
When the Old Insulation Has to Come Out
Old insulation comes out when it has failed: soaked by a leak, soiled by rodents and their nesting, or contaminated badly enough that covering it would only hide the problem. If what is up there is dry and clean, adding more over the top costs less and does the job. We check which it is before recommending either.
That is something we measure rather than guess. We get up there, look at the condition and the depth in several places, and tell you. The evaluation is free.
Dimensional Contracting works out of Arlington and has been in business since 2003. Dallas and the rest of Dallas County are inside the area we cover.

What Did You Find Up There?
Droppings, nesting or a smell. That insulation comes out before anything new goes in. New material blown over it would sit on top of the mess rather than replace it.
Water stains, or insulation that is wet. Wet insulation comes out too, and the water has to be traced first, because new insulation under a live leak is wasted. If it is a roof leak, our roofing company, Fix My Roof DFW, handles roof repair in Dallas.
Insulation that has packed down. Compacted is not automatically a removal job. We check how far it has settled and what condition it is in, then recommend one or the other.
It just looks thin. If it is dry and clean, adding more over the top costs less and does the job. Attic insulation in Dallas covers that.
What the Work Covers
Taking old insulation out, and what a complete replacement includes.
Taking the Old Insulation Out
Taking insulation out adds its own labour, equipment and disposal to a job. We take it out with commercial vacuum equipment and bag it at the hatch, so the old material leaves the house instead of being swept into a corner of the attic.
With the floor bare, the framing and the ductwork are far easier to look over than they are under a layer of old material.
Cleaning and Sanitizing Come With a Complete Replacement
We do not offer attic cleaning on its own. Cleaning and sanitizing come only with a complete insulation removal and replacement: once the old material is out, we clean the attic floor and sanitize it, and then the new insulation goes down.
If cleaning is the only thing you think you need, the useful first step is still getting someone up there to look.
What a Complete Replacement Includes
In a complete removal and replacement, the old material comes out, the attic floor is cleaned, sanitized and looked over while it is bare, and new blown-in fiberglass or cellulose goes in across the whole floor at the depth in the estimate. Insulation replacement explains how we decide between that and adding to what is there.
While the floor is bare is also the easiest time to seal the gaps underneath it, around plumbing stacks, wiring holes, top plates and the attic hatch. We seal them with foam sealant and caulk. It is cheaper to do now than to come back for once the new insulation is down. Attic air sealing shows where the gaps usually are.
What Moves the Price
We do not quote removal by the square foot over the phone. We measure the attic and price that attic. What moves the number:
- How much attic floor there is, which is not the same as the square footage of the house.
- What is up there and what state it is in. Loose fill, batts, wet material and soiled material each come out differently.
- Access. A pull-down stair in a hallway is quick, and a small hatch at the back of a closet slows every part of the job.
- What goes back in, and how deep.
- Whether air sealing and baffles go in during the same visit.
Deal With the Cause First
Rodents got in somewhere. Water came from somewhere. New insulation over either problem is money spent twice, so the leak or the way in needs dealing with before anything new goes down. Tell us what you have seen when you call, and we will tell you what we can take on and what needs someone else.
What We Do Not Take On
Spray foam, radiant barrier, duct work, attic cleaning on its own, and patch repairs to one corner of an attic. We work on whole attics. If what you need is outside that, we will tell you rather than quote for it.

/ FAQS
Frequently Asked Questions
Does all the old insulation have to come out?
Not if it is dry and clean. That can stay and be added to. Wet, soiled or contaminated insulation comes out first. We check across the whole attic floor before recommending either.
Do you do attic cleaning on its own?
No. Cleaning and sanitizing come only as part of a complete removal and replacement: the old insulation out, the floor cleaned and sanitized, and new insulation in.
How much does attic insulation removal cost in Dallas?
It depends on the size of the attic floor, what is up there, how easy the attic is to get into, and what goes back in. We price it after measuring, and the visit to measure is free.
Can I take the insulation out myself?
You can, but insulation that has been under rodents or water is not something to stir up without protective gear, and the bags have to come out through the house. At the least, let us look first so you know what you are dealing with.
Will you fix the roof leak that caused the damage?
Roof work is done by our roofing company, Fix My Roof DFW. The water needs to be stopped before new insulation goes in.
Do you cover all of Dallas?
Yes, the whole city, the north side included, and the rest of Dallas County.
